Lapping of rebars are unavoidable.There is a limit to the stocklength of a rebar and hence when ever we need a length more than the available length, we will have to provide a lap for the rebars.However lapping all the rebars at same location is not permissible as you are creating a weakness at same point.Therefore most codes of practice recommends to stagger laps.Only 50% of rebars are allowed to lap at one section.
